Do you need to register slide in truck campers?

I have a 2008 lance 805 slide in truck camper, it slides into the bed of the truck, it weighs 1574lb

1. Not in most states. The only vehicles that usually need to be registered are vehicles with axles, and which have wheels on the road. The slide-in isn't towed, so it is not a vehicle.
2. You need to check with your local DMV or State Transport authority. States now are using heavy vehicles to get a little more income. They have now changed it in SC so that a single wheel Chevy 3500 with a work body needs a $50 sticker..... the ways they make money.....
